El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents from the Indio station arrested a 21-year-old woman Wednesday morning at the Highway 86 checkpoint after discovering 24.83 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in her car.

The woman was stopped at about 11:30 a.m. and a Border Patrol canine alerted agents to her Honda Accord. After searching the car, agents said they found 44 bundles of methamphetamine hidden in the floorboards of the vehicle.

Officials said the meth is estimated to be worth $284,300 on the street.
