Downed power poles spark fire in Desert Hot Springs

CAL FIRE was on scene of a vegetation fire in Desert Hot Springs Friday night. Crews shutdown northbound and southbound lanes of Palm Dr. at Dillon Rd. and Two Bunch Palms.

The fire sparked around 5:30 p.m. after strong winds knocked down power poles in the area and knocked out power to several thousand Southern California Edison customers.

SCE is on scene assessing the number of residents affected.
