News anchors race for a good cause

The first Warburton St. Jude BMW Anchor Challenge kicked off Friday at the BMW Performance Center at the Thermal Race Track.

Our own John White and Karen Devine participated, along with our sister station CBS Local 2 Brooke Beare and Kris Long.

Anchors and some Hollywood actors put the pedal to the metal to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“You can’t describe in words how amazing that place is. Because you go to a place where you know kids are really sick with diseases that are sometimes incurable as of now. And you expect to be very sad. And what’s amazing about Saint Jude is that it’s one of the happiest places you’ll ever go. The staff is happy. The kids are happy. The families are happy,” said actor Kevin Rahm.

Friday marked the first challenge to raise funds and expand the efforts for St. Jude into other local areas.

John White was the first to cross the line taking home the first place title and of course bragging rights.
