PSPD releases surveillance photos in search of shooting suspects

The Palm Springs Police Department released new surveillance photos on Monday as officers continue to search for three suspects who were involved in an apparent shooting on Saturday, March 5.

The incident happened at 2 p.m. that day at the northwest corner of Calle Encilia and Saturnino Road. Officers said one of the victims was standing by a parked PT Cruiser and the other victim was sitting in the car when a group of unknown Hispanic juveniles pulled up to them in a newer model gray four-door sedan.

According to the release, the driver and two passengers in the backseat got out of the car and the front seat passenger exited and sat down in the driver’s seat.

One of the suspects drew a weapon and fired one round at the victims’ car. One of the victims was wounded in his abdomen, and police said it was possibly caused by the bullet after it ricocheted off the vehicle’s windshield.

One of the victims had a cell phone stolen during the incident as well.

Officers reviewed surveillance video which was discovered nearby and released clothing descriptions of three of the suspects.

Suspect No. 1 appeared to be wearing a white shirt and dark colored pants
Suspect No. 2 appeared to be wearing a black short-sleeved shirt and long black shorts
Suspect No. 3 appeared to be wearing an unknown colored short-sleeved shirt and long black shorts

While the descriptions are very vague, police obtained photos of the suspect car as it was leaving the scene, hoping someone may recognize the vehicle.

The Palm Springs Police Department believes there were people in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incident. If you saw anything, you’re asked to call PSPD at 760-327-1441.
