LGBT Days festival begins in Cathedral City

The second annual Cathedral City LGBT Days festival begins Friday, with a full weekend of events to celebrate the city’s diversity and LGBT community.

The opening night celebration hosted by Jersey Shore will be held on the festival lawn in downtown Cathedral City from 5-to-9 p.m. Performances will take place in front of the “Equality” hot air balloon, with rides available to the public.

An art show, bartending competition and “Rocky Horror Picture Show” sing-a-long hosted by radio personality Nicolas Snow are also planned.

On Saturday morning, the LGBT Days version of a pride parade, the Costume Charity Bed Race, is planned. That night, the cast of the film “Sordid Lives” will attend a screening and meet and greet event at the Mary Pickford Theatre.

The festivities will conclude Easter Sunday with a performance by comedian Coco Peru and a children’s egg hunt that will have youngsters searching for 3,000 eggs hidden in front of Desert Cinemas.
