One person stabbed after argument in Desert Hot Springs

Desert Hot Springs police responded to calls of a stabbing just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday after an argument got physical.

When police got to the 66400 block of Acoma Avenue they found a 17-year-old with a cut on his face.

Witnesses said the suspect, Jimmy Martinez, fled from where the stabbing happened but officers later detained Martinez.

Both the victim and Martinez were taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Martinez is already on parole for battery causing serious bodily injury.

He was booked into the Smith Correctional Facility for assault with a deadly weapon and violation of parole.
