Man shot in leg refuses to talk to police

A gunshot victim showed up at a Palm Springs home and asked a resident to call police but then refused to tell officers what happened, leaving police today with more questions than answers.

Officers were sent at 6:39 p.m. Tuesday to the 2900 block of Bahada Road, after a homeowner called police to report that a 32-year-old man who had been shot in the leg was knocking on the door and asking the resident to call police, said Palm Springs police Sgt. William Hutchinson.

When officers arrived, the victim — whose name was withheld — refused to tell them who shot him or where the shooting occurred, the sergeant said. He was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

According to Hutchinson, police did not receive any reports of gunshots in the area, nor was there any evidence of a shooting nearby. Police asked anyone with information to contact the Palm Springs Police Department at (760) 323-8116, or Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.
