Fans enjoy the new improvements to this year’s ANA Inspiration

It’s the last day of play for the ANA Inspiration Sunday in Rancho Mirage and the fans are making the most of it.

While the spotlight is on the tournament, organizers say there’s a number of improvements this year that make the entire experience more enjoyable.

“We have an incredible leader board. We have I think seven different countries represented in the top 10,” said tournament director Gabe Codding.

From the Inspiring Women in Sports Conference to the Foot Golf Face Off, Codding said this year is better than ever.

“We’ve expanded the 18th green suites and it includes the pavilion that’s air-conditioned and Wally’s is a staple here in Rancho Mirage and it’s the caterer there. So the food has been upgraded, the air conditioning and also enjoy a seat right on the green,” Codding said.

And fans said they couldn’t be happier.

“I just love this tournament. It’s a gorgeous tournament to come to and the people are really friendly and the food is really good,” said Brenda Onken from Wisconsin.

There’s a putting competition, shops and restaurants, serving local favorites.

Many visitors said the new seating near the 18th hole is their favorite part.

“The grandstand are way bigger. This flat area is really nice there’s a lot more shade,” Onken said.

Others said they’re just happy to be in the sun.

“Oh it’s wonderful. It’s so scenic and beautiful and I’m not a golfer but we’re her to follow Brooke Anderson,” said Wilma Wantuck from Canada.

Another topic of discussion, golf’s return to the Olympics since it’s first appearance in 1904.

“I’m very happy for all of them the LPGA and the PGA,” said Shirley Zellner from Temecula.

With many of the players we see this year, potentially coming back as newly titled Olympians at next year’s tournament.

“Next year at this tournament we’re going to have 60 Olympians. They won’t just be world championship golfers, they will be Olympians,” Codding said.

All upgrades and new additions keeping with the tournament’s theme.

“When we call ourselves the inspiration, we do everything we can to inspire people to do and get better. But also appreciate the game of golf,” Codding said.
