Road closures announced for Coachella Fest

Indio and La Quinta have announced road closures that are planned for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The three-day festival takes place over the course of two weekends.

Weekend one is April 15-17 and the second weekend is April 22-24.

Goldenvoice won a major victory when the Indio City Council approved a proposal to raise the cap on attendance for both festivals, increasing Coachella from 99,000 to 125,000 and from 75,000 at Stagecoach to 85,000.

The following roads will serve as primary routes for the festival: (View Large Map Below)

Jefferson Street, southbound from Interstate 10 to Avenue 52
Washington Street, southbound from Interstate 10 to Avenue 52
Monroe Street, from Interstate 10 to Avenue 52
Highway 111 at Jefferson Street
Highway 111 at Monroe Street
Interstate 10 exit eastbound at Jefferson
Interstate 10 exit eastbound at Monroe

Planned Road Closures:

Avenue 49 between Hjorth Street and Monroe
Avenue 50 between Madison Street and Jackson Street
Hjorth Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 50
Madison Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 52

Alternate routes:

For north and south travel, use Washington, Jackson, Calhoun Street and Golf Center Parkway
For east and west travel, use Fred Waring Drive, Miles Avenue, Avenue 48 and Avenue 54

City officials said Uber/Taxi pickup and drop-off will be at Avenue 49 and Monroe Street on the southwest corner within the venue. Parent drop-off and pickup will be at Avenue 52 and Madison Street.

Officers said absolutely no pedestrians or pedestrian access to the festival will be permitted on Monroe between Avenue 49 and Avenue 52. Pedestrian access will be available at the corner of Avenue 49 and Monroe Street, and at the corner of Avenue 52 and Madison. Golf carts will not be permitted on any of the above streets.

There will be about 35,000 concertgoers shuttled into and out of the concert venue from various locations throughout the Coachella Valley to help ease traffic conditions.
