Valley businesses look to music festivals for boom in sales

From small restaurants to big retailers, Coachella Valley businesses are ready to cash in on festival weekends.

“We’re definitely getting ready for a busy time. We’re going to have lots of people out here in the desert, said Target store team leader Jacqueline Robinson. “Coachella, Stagecoach, we’re ready for them,” said store team leader Jacqueline Robinson.

Target in La Quinta has extra hands on deck and will increase security. The store team is also stocking up on drinks, clothing and camping gear, new displays with all the must-haves for the desert’s music marathons.

“We have a lot of stuff that isn’t usually here, but designated for our guests to get in and out and get ready for Coachella,” said Robinson.

The Egg Caf will celebrate its two year anniversary in La Quinta this festival season.

“It’s a party. We try to stay really positive and just get crazy and have fun with it,” said owner Doriel Wyler.

Wyler said music lovers bring her a 50 percent boost in business. She’s hired a couple of new employees to help, but there are rules and warnings for customers.

“Not standing in the doorway because it’s hard for our waiters to get outside with food. And then just to warn them in advance it could be an hour wait for them to get their food,” said Wyler.
