17-year-old suspected in La Quinta shooting, robbery: (April 6, 2016)
A teenager suspected in a shooting and robbery was arrested following a warrant search that turned up narcotics, the sheriff’s department reported Tuesday.
The 17-year-old boy is suspected in a Feb. 26 crime at the retention basin at Ashley Way and Desert Stream Drive in La Quinta, said sheriff’s Sgt. Ben Ramirez. Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at the teen’s Bermuda Dunes home at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday and arrested him on charges related to the robbery and shooting, but illegal narcotics were also seized, Ramirez said.
An investigation into the narcotics is being conducted by the Coachella Valley Narcotics Task Force, he said.
The boy, whose name was withheld because of his age, was booked at Indio Juvenile Hall. The sheriff’s department did not release any details of the February crime, including whether anyone was injured in the shooting.
