El Gallito looks to sell recipes to potential buyer

A staple in the Coachella Valley, family-owned and operated Mexican restaurant El Gallito, will be closing its doors on April 30, much to the disappointment of many locals who have fallen in love with the cuisine over the past 39 years. But, there may be some good news on the horizon.

El Gallito restaurant to close after 39 years in Cathedral City

A sign on the restaurant’s doors states the owner has no desire to relocate and wants to retire, but the food recipes are for sale and a potential buyer has expressed interest in reopening El Gallito in a new location.

The sign also read that the 70-year-old building is aging and not ADA-compliant. The land the restaurant sits on is also slated for redevelopment.

Nothing is definite yet as far as the restaurant reopening in a new location, but it does provide some potential relief for fans.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will keep you updated on future plans. But, until then, you may want to dine at the restaurant one last time before the official closing date of April 30.
