“At risk” woman found safe Sunday evening

Palm Springs Police said a woman with autism who had been reported missing earlier in the day was found late Sunday night and returned to a friend.

Melody Musquiz, 44, was considered “at-risk.”

Police said Musquiz has autism, lives out of town, and was not familiar with the area.

She had been last seen leaving the IHOP restaurant in Downtown Palm Springs on South Indian Canyon Drive at approximately 9 a.m. Sunday morning.

Officers found here while responding to a call of a woman screaming along the 2600 block of Cherokee Way.

They said she was not the victim of any crime.
