Arrest made in “Ice chest” murder

A man was arrested on suspicion of murdering a 19-year-old Huntington Beach woman nearly five months after her body was found in an ice chest, authorities said Monday.

Anthony Moreno, 38, was already incarcerated in state prison on an unrelated charge by the time he was identified as a suspect in the homicide, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Moreno is suspected of shooting and killing Dawn McEveety at a residence in the 11900 block of 183rd Street in Artesia on Nov. 24, 2015, according to the release.

McEveety’s body was found five days later “entombed in a large container” in the rear cargo of a red 1991 Toyota Celica hatchback, authorities said. The stolen vehicle was parked in an unincorporated part of Whittier.
