Huge variations in the prices of medical procedures across state lines

Huge variations exist in the prices of some of the most common medical procedures across state lines, according to a report by Major Insurers released Wednesday.

The Health Care Cost institute found that costs for an identical MRI varied between $475 dollars to $6000 in just a 100 mile radius around San Francisco.

Prices that vary that much can leave patients spending thousands out of pocket.

They are calling for more transparency in health care costs but until that happens, it’s best to shop around. Also, gold is losing its shine as more people opt for teeth whitening.

Bloomberg says until a decade ago, about $2.7 billion worth of the yellow metal were used in filling, capping and crowning teeth worldwide annually.

In the last five years, though, demand has plunged almost 60 percent, according to the world gold council. dentists blame teeth-whitening and the new cements and ceramics used instead.
