Palm Springs crash victim identified by coroner

A 63-year-old man from Cathedral City was killed in a Palm Springs crash Wednesday night. The coroner’s office identified him Thursday morning as Kim Peckham.

Palm Springs police arrived to the intersection of Crossley Road and Dinah Shore Drive at about 5:30 p.m. after a car was struck by a motorcycle.

Officers said the motorcyclist was driving eastbound on Dinah Shore Drive when the bike collided with the car as it was turning southbound on Crossley Road. Peckham was the passenger in the car and he died at the scene.

The motorcyclist suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a hospital. The driver of the car was also transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Police closed the intersection in all directions for several hours while they investigated and cleared the scene. The roads were reopened at 11:37 p.m.
Wednesday.

The crash is still under investigation.
