Palm Springs City Council member talks about FPPC investigation
Earlier this month, Eloise Mohsin filed a complaint to the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) about the financial earnings of Palm Springs City Council Member Chris Mills.
Mohsin said in her complaint, she pointed out Planning Commission reports listing businesses with the names of Ramon Partners and Ramon Office Building LLC.
In a statement, Mills said the company started as Ramon Properties, then Ramon Office Building LLC, and finally changed to WWCOT Ramon LLC in 2012.
When asked about the empty lots at 4001 East Ramon Road, Mills said the company owns the property, and planned at one time to build an office building there.
It went before the Planning Commission and City Council three times, the last time being in in 2012.
Mills said it was approved, but nothing was ever built and the plans have since expired.
Mills also confirmed he owns a small portion of the LLC, and that a local contractor is also involved.
Mills said he is cooperating completely with the FPPC.
In a statement, Palm Springs Mayor Robert Moon said he’s not sure yet if the city will hold its own review of the case.
KESQ/CBS Local 2 reached out to other council members and city leaders who declined to talk about the investigation.
The city did release a notice stating they’re “firmly committed to openness, transparency and accessibility as it conducts the public’s business.”
The city also encourages residents to access that information on their own on the city website.
