AIDS Assistance Program’s Gala honors community leaders

The fuchsia carpet was rolled out for AIDS Assistance Program – Food Samaritans’ annual Evening Under the Stars gala.

The event honored community leaders Senator Barbara Boxer, Terri Ketover, Cathy MacNaughton, and Jane Wagner.

“Seeing these people here who have come up to me and thanked me for my work as I look at the last few months of the Senate, it’s very exciting for me,” says Senator Boxer.

The AIDS Assistance Program brings nutritional support to low-income individuals with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses in the valley.

The Village People were the primary entertainment of the evening, inspiring disco themed fashion in many of the guests.

AIDS Assist Program executives said they hope to raise over $200,000 through pledges from the audience. They said the money raised goes directly toward feeding anywhere between 400 to 500 individuals a month in the Coachella Valley.

CBS Local 2’s Brooke Beare was the mistress of ceremonies for the event.
