Overnight Coachella shooting leaves one person dead
Police were investigating a deadly shooting in Coachella early Tuesday morning.
Riverside County Sheriffs Department Homicide Investigators were called to the 53100 block of Calle Los Hermanos at approximately 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. That’s in a neighborhood near Harrison Street and Avenue 53, just south of Our Lady of Soledad Catholic Church.
Deputy Mike Vasquez said officers located an adult who had suffered a gunshot wound. Vasquez did not say whether the apparent shooting victim was a man or a woman.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nearby streets were closed to the public as an investigation was underway. The investigation was expected to last for several hours. There was no word on any arrests, any other injuries or a motive.
This marks the fifth homicide in the Coachella Valley this year and the second in the city of Coachella.
