Same exact number of people arrested at Stagecoach as last year

The Indio Police Department released arrest statistics from the 2016 Stagecoach Country Music Festival, and oddly enough, officers reported the same exact number of arrests as the previous year’s festival.

The magic number is 157.

Of those 157:

15 arrests were made for public intoxication, as opposed to 13 last year
138 arrests were made for alcohol-related violations, as opposed to 141 last year
1 person was arrested for resisting/obstructing a peace officer
1 person was arrested for theft by false pretenses
2 people were arrested for vehicle code violations

Officers said 27 of the alcohol-related arrests were minors trying to buy alcohol with a fake ID. 94 minors were arrested for possession of alcohol and 16 adults were arrested for providing a minor with alcohol. One person was also arrested for giving a minor a false ID card.

There was a total of 270 people arrested during both weekends of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in 2016, which takes place during the two weekends leading up to Stagecoach.

In 2015, 226 people were arrested during both weekends of the Coachella Festival.

The Indio Police Department made it a point to crack down on underage drinking at the festivals this year, according to Sgt. Dan Marshall.
