Investigation begins after infant drowns in Perris

Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after an infant drowned Thursday afternoon in Perris.

Officials didnt’ list many details about the location of the drowning, but said emergency officials were called to the 500 block of North D Street in Perris at about 12 p.m.

Deputies immediately began giving the boy CPR. Paramedics arrived just minutes later and continued life-saving measures. The baby was transported to the hospital but couldn’t be saved due to his injuries, authorities said in the release.

The boy’s identity hasn’t been released at this time.

Following the incident, the sheriff’s department launched an investigation to learn what led up to the infant’s death. The boy’s mother and several of her family members have been interviewed by investigators, but no arrests have been made.
