Injured hiker rescued in Palm Springs

First responders saved an injured hiker in Palm Springs Saturday morning.

The Palm Springs Police Department received a call at 8:44 a.m. from the hiker who had an injured leg and needed medical attention.

The Palm Springs Mounted Police Search and Rescue Unit and the Palm Springs Fire Department responded and located the hiker on the Skyline hiking trail near the Palm Springs Art Museum on 101 Museum Drive.

The hiker was airlifted to safety by a California Highway Patrol helicopter, police said.

The hiker was being treated at a local hospital.
