One dead, two injured in Desert Hot Springs shooting
A man is dead and two people were injured after a series of shootings in Desert Hot Springs Saturday night. This is the first deadly shooting reported in the city in 2016.
Officers responded to a report of gunshots fired around 8 p.m. on the 66300 block of 6th Street and Cactus Drive, north of Pierson Boulevard. When police arrived they found three gunshot victims, including two men and one teenager.
All three people were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center where 18-year-old Samuel Reyes died. The other two victims are in stable condition.

This was the third shooting reported within a fairly close proximity of Desert Hot Springs in May. On May 3 and May 6, shootings were reported in the 66900 block of Cahuilla Avenue. Nobody was injured during those shootings.
But the number of homicides in the Coachella Valley have declined this year over last year. Last year at this time, Desert Hot Springs had five homicides and there were 19 homicides overall in the Coachella Valley.
Saturday’s deadly shooting was the 8th homicide in the Coachella Valley this year.
