String of theft & vandalism reported at Indio Water Authority

Officials at the Indio Water Authority have reported a recent string of theft and vandalism occurring at their facility, but they said there’s no indication that the suspect(s) have any intention to interfere with the city’s water supply.

The Indio Water Authority well site is located in the 81400 block of Avenue 48.

Based on the location and type of damage, it appears the suspect(s) tried to break into a building that houses surveillance equipment, according to a release.

We’re just now hearing about the criminal activity at the water agency, but officials said a possible vandalism suspect was caught on surveillance camera during the most recent incident on April 22.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been positively identified at this time. Anyone with information about the theft/vandalism cases is asked to call the Indio Police Department at 760-391-4057.

Authorities said the most recent incident was just one of several cases of theft and vandalism that occurred at the facility in April.
