2 major votes made at Palm Springs City Council meeting
The Palm Springs City Council made two major votes at Wednesday night’s meeting involving their legal strategy as they go forward this year.
Council members made a unanimous decision to replace the firm where the current city attorney Doug Holland works, with an in-house city attorney. The search will begin for that person, but in the meantime, City Spokeswoman Amy Blaisdell says that Holland will stay on until after the new attorney is hired to also get him up to speed.
No time limit was announced for that process.
In a vote of 4-1, with Councilman Mills being the only one to decent the vote, they agreed to terminate the law firm of Theodora Oringher; the firm that employs Former District Attorney Rod Pacheco.
Holland brought Pacheco on board after the FBI raid last year to help offer advice to the city about any investigation questions they may be faced with. That contract ends the end of May.
