Cement truck driver dies after Route 62 crash
A man from Joshua Tree is dead after crashing on Route 62 in the Morongo Basin. The 57-year-old man who has not been identified was driving a cement truck just after 6 a.m. Monday.
CHP says he was traveling eastbound on Route 62 when he suddenly started to drift to the soft shoulder and lost control. His truck – which was carrying about 30-thousand pounds of cement – then overturned. When paramedics responded, the driver went into cardiac arrest.
He died at the naval hospital in twenty nine palms.
