Firefighters battle suspicious fire on Cathedral City golf course

Cathedral City Fire crews were called to the Cimarron Golf Course to battle a small blaze near one of the holes just before 5:00 Wednesday. But Fire officials tell us that this was not the first fire of the day reported on the course.

Fire crews had to battle some windy conditions, but were able to control the fire from spreading to nearby brush and contain it to a small area on the golf course.

A security guard at Cimarron, told Cathedral City Fire officials, that he spotted a transient leaving the area, just shortly before smoke was spotted coming from one of the holes on the golf course.

Fire officials also say this was the third fire on the course reported on Wednesday. The exact cause is still under investigation.
