Palm Springs hotels near capacity for holiday weekend

Aftab Dada is the General Manager of the Hilton Palm Springs. He says business is booming over the holiday weekend at 100% capacity, as with most hotels in the area.

“This time of year–it’s nice and warm, and there are cooler temperatures on the coast as well as some rain in the San Diego area,” says Dada.

That dreary weather brought Shauna Gilbert and her husband to the valley.

“[It’s] a lot warmer than San Diego this weekend and needed a weekend to get away from work,” says Gilbert, “I got a massage yesterday. Today we’re just hanging out by the pool all day.”

She’s not the only one. Poolside server Daniel Hayes says his pockets are full from tips.

Hayes says the big buy is their Palm Springs Lemonade.

“I’m working hard, I’m making good money, I can’t complain,” says Hayes, “The Memorial Day Weekend definitely brings a lot of families. It’s good for business.”
