SUV crashes into business in Palm Desert

A car crash in Palm Desert sends two people to the hospital and an SUV crashing into a business.

The accident happened at 1:15 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of San Pablo Avenue and Highway 111. A car collided with an SUV then the SUV crashed through the front of Richard Read Interiors.

Luckily the store is closed on Sundays and there were no customers inside.

The owner of the store had just left the building minutes before the SUV crashed through the wall.

The owner of the business had just locked up the store and went to go get lunch when the SUV crashed through the front of the store.

“I have seen accidents happen all the time here so I have thought what if one day someone crashes into the store, and they did,” said Richard Read.

No word yet on the condition of the woman in the SUV and the driver of the other car. The owner of the building is boarding up the wall until repairs can be made.

Both directions of San Pablo Ave were closed for several hours for the cleanup and investigation.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
