3 alleged burglars arrested for breaking into DHS home

A 19-year-old man and two juveniles were arrested Monday after allegedly trying to break into a Desert Hot Springs home while the homeowner was still inside.

Marcus White, of Desert Hot Springs, was arrested on suspicion of burglary along with two 17-year-old alleged accomplices whose names were not released due to their age.

Officers responded at 12:04 p.m. to a home in the 13400 block of Cuando Way in Desert Hot Springs. A woman locked herself and her two sisters in her bedroom and called police, saying that someone had possibly broken into her house, said Sgt. Daud Chang.

Upon arrival, officers saw the two juveniles outside the house. One of them ran back inside and briefly holed up in the garage with the other suspect, while officers escorted the women to safety. A sheriff’s K9 unit and California Highway Patrol helicopter were called in for support, aiding in the arrests of the two remaining suspects.
