Pool finally approved for Cathedral City HS

KESQ and CBS local 2 have learned that Cathedral City High School finally broke ground a few weeks ago on their first ever swimming pool since the school opened in 1991.

Construction is estimated to take between six to eight months. With the approval from the Palm Springs Unified School District Board the water polo and swim teams will no longer have to be bused daily to the Palm Spring swim center. This will give these athletes a chance to finally practice after school on their very own campus.

“They are hoping for big crowds and it will give more exposure to those sports and hopefully will get a lot more kids coming out for those sports as well,” said Assistant Principal Todd Diliberto.

Rancho Mirage will also be sharing the pool for their home meets as well. The approval for the public to use the pool during warmer months is still on standby by the district.
