Man shot in field near 86 expressway, expected to survive

Update 5:20 p.m. Riverside County Sheriff Department spokesman Deputy Armando Munoz confirms that one man has been shot, multiple times. He has been transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive. They have not located any other victims, and continue to search for suspects in that area.

Riverside County sheriff’s deputies are investigating after responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred near the 86 Expressway and Dillon Road in Coachella at 4:25 p.m.

Deputy Armando Munoz said authorities have made contact with the victim and an investigation is underway.
