18-holes at SilverRock will remain open
Each year thousands from all over the country and here in the valley challenge the rock, otherwise known as SilverRock Golf Course.
With a hotel planned to be built next spring– the course was expecting to drop from 18 holes to just nine this June.
No longer the case, it is full go at SilverRock but also no changes in the future of the hotel.
“At this point in time everything is still on schedule– still on tap to take the whole property down on January of 17 and start construction no later than spring of 2017.” La Quinta City Manager Frank Spevacek.
Great news for not only the future of the hotel, but for summer at the Rock and it’s golfers.
“There has been some changes in the plan so we are open thru summer, closing in October when we overseed.” Golf Pro James Sanz said.
“All 18-holes were open, to play the whole afternoon- and the whole day, well morning I guess. Really beautiful course and just wonderful to play.” Juline Chomay, a golfer today at SilverRock said.
“The course is in great shape, we are all from the area here and never played this course before. Loving it and having a great time.” added Paul Hansen, a local resident.
The plans still in place and come July the public will find out more details on the future ahead.
“On July 5th we’re going to have a study session before the council to give the council and community an update on those on those activies as well as let them know where we are going on plan B which will not require the course to be shut down at this time.”
“Some people that come out that are playing that still may think the back-9 may be closed. They are excited to hear that it is open and the word is getting out and we are planning for a pretty good summer after-all.”
