Seven children removed from uninhabitable home

On Saturday, June 25, 2016, deputies from the Morongo Basin Station conducted a traffic stop near Hatch and Morongo Road in 29 Palms. Deputies contacted the driver, Arsenio Jones, and passenger, Brandon Brown. A records check revealed Jones is on Felony Probation for a narcotics offense and was driving on a suspended driver license. Brown was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. Jones and Brown were arrested and taken to the 72600 Block of Foothill to conduct a probation search of Jones’ residence. Deputies! contacted Danielle Reid and her seven children at the house.

The conditions at the house were uninhabitable. There was virtually no food in the residence and water covered the floors from blocked plumbing. What appeared to be animal feces was on the bedroom floor where everyone slept. Trash was strewn all over and large rats ran around the garage and cockroaches infested several parts of the house.

Jones and Reid were arrested for violation of Penal Code 273(A) a, Felony Child Neglect and booked into the Morongo Jail. Jones is being held without bail and Reid is being held in lieu of $100,000.00 bail. Brown was arrested, booked into the Morongo Jail and is being held on $25,000.00 bail. The department of Children’s and Family Services were contacted and took custody of all seven juveniles.
