Man leads deputies on 14-mile chase in Twentynine Palms
San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies said a man crashed his motorcycle into a car after leading deputies on a 14-mile pursuit in Twentynine Palms Friday night.
Deputies said 25-year-old Bruce Edginton was seen illegally riding an off-road motorcycle on 2 Mile Road. Edginton reportedly took off on the bike headed west to Lear Avenue when deputies tried to stop him.
Edginton continued south and then east onto Highway 62. He ran red lights at speeds higher that 90 miles per hour and drove into oncoming traffic.
Deputies said he turned onto Utah Trail to Amboy Road, that’s where the 14-mile pursuit ended when he tried to run a red light on Amboy and was hit by minivan. Edginton’s motorcycle flew into a patrol car.
Edginton was flown to Desert Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
After searching his backpack, deputies discovered less than an ounce of marijuana and a glass methamphetamine pipe, according to the sheriff’s department.
The report will be sent to the Morongo Basin District Attorney’s Office for review and filing of charges.
