Indio to host community prayer vigil

In the wake of the recent high-profile shootings, churches, police and community leaders will join forces in Indio for a prayer vigil Thursday.

The Multi-Faith Community Prayer Vigil will welcome people from across the valley at the Indio Performing Arts Center.

Along with prayer, Mayor Glenn Miller said it’s a time to reach out to people and prevent tragedy in the Coachella Valley.

“Come up with solutions and get together and say, ‘What can we do make our quality of life better? What can we do to make our community better?'”

The vigil will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For more information about the vigil, visit www.indiopd.org

While Black Lives Matter protests are being held across the nation, some peaceful protesters in the Coachella Valley plan to march on Monday in downtown Palm Springs. For more information, visit the Black Lives Matter in the Desert: Peaceful Protest Facebook page.
