Coachella Valley Rescue Mission hosts annual Backpack Bonanza giveaway

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission announced that they are gearing up for its Annual Backpack Bonanza giveaway, scheduled for Saturday, August 20. The event will be held in the multi-purpose room on the CVRM campus. The giveaway starts at 7:00am, while supplies last.

The CVRM is located at 47470 Van Buren St. in Indio.

With its 90 days of summer outreach in full swing, CVRM is ready to once again reach out to the needy children of the Valley, and they are asking for the community’s help.

“We cannot do this without the generosity and support of the community,” says Scott Wolf, Development Manager. “We are in need of all sorts of school supplies, as well as new backpacks for more than 3,500 children who are expected to attend.” Some, of the more than 60, drop-off locations include Coachella Valley Chase Banks, Indio Police Department and Senior Center and many more throughout the Valley.

Founded in 1971, the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission provides food, clothing, and safe shelter to anyone in need. Additionally, CVRM helps people end their cycle of homelessness with extensive counseling, job training, and job placement services. Currently more than 175,000 meals are provided each year, along with 59,800 nights of safe shelter.
