Police find stolen car, suspect carrying drugs and burglary tools

On Wednesday, at about 6:57 p.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Station received information about a 2014 Mercedez E350, which had been stolen out of Palm Springs.

Deputies found the vehicle, at the 6300 block of Hermosa Avenue and conducted surveillance on it. At about 8:53 p.m., the suspect, identified as Roy Runyon, entered the vehicle. Deputies made contact with Runyon and he was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Runyon was also found to be in possession of the vehicle keys, a glass methamphetamine pipe, aluminum foil with black tar heroin residue, shaved vehicle keys, bolt cutters, and other burglary tools.

Deputies returned stolen car to the victim and Runyon was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of burglary tools.
