DUI suspect accused of stealing school bus from C.V.H.S.

Police arrested a La Quinta man Sunday evening after he allegedly drove a stolen school bus into a set of school classroom trailers at Coachella Valley High School.

Coachella police officers were called to the school along the 83800 block of Airport Boulevard in Coachella Sunday evening at 6:47 p.m.

Officers say they determined that Joe Barragan Quevedo Jr., 28, stole a school bus from a fenced-in parking lot and then crashed the vehicle into a set of classroom trailers while trying to leave.

Quevedo Jr. was taken to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries.
He was set to be charged with vehicle theft, driving under the influence, and vandalism.

Investigators say alcohol was determined to be a factor in the collision.
