Stolen vehicle suspect still wanted in Thermal

The driver of a stolen Ford minivan got away from police in Coachella Sunday morning.

She was described as a female adult in her 30’s who ran away on foot.

Detectives said the suspect hit a parked truck while driving on three wheels with sparks flying at 5:13 a.m. Sunday morning in the area of Avenue 52 and Sunset.

Police had been called there because of reports of a DUI driver.

Officers said they tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the Ford’s driver refused to stop, hitting several other parked cars.

The minivan eventually got stuck after colliding with a parked car in a driveway on the 51700 block of Genoa Street.

The woman at the wheel jumped out and ran off.

A search of the area came up empty.

The vehicle was determined to be stolen from Cathedral City.

An investigation continues and anyone with information was encouraged to contact the Coachella Police Department at (760) 863-8990, or they can call anonymously at (760) 341-STOP (7867).
