Passenger arrested for pushing firefighter helping crash victim

Palm Springs firefighters had to deal with some interference while trying to help a female who crashed on Dinah Shore at Crossley Road on Thursday afternoon.

The female was driving at a high rate of speed east on Dinah Shore, and she drove into the center median, striking a tree after losing control of the vehicle, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

The collision happened just east of Crossley Road at about 1 p.m.

She sustained moderate injuries in the crash. The male passenger in her front seat wasn’t injured, but this is when the story starts to take a strange turn.

Officers said the passenger was uncooperative and interfered with PSFD while they were helping the woman at the crash scene. He ended up pushing one of the firefighters and was arrested for battery on a firefighter.

The passenger was transported to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

Officers are investigating the cause of the crash and said it’s unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol contributed.

The eastbound lanes of Dinah Shore were closed for a couple of hours while emergency officials cleared the scene.
