Millions expected to hit the road for Labor Day weekend

Millions of people will be taking advantage of the long weekend to travel by car. According to Trip Advisor holiday, travel is expected to be 10 percent higher this year than last year.

The California Highway Patrol is asking people to make sure their cars are in fine working order before going on a long trip this weekend.

According to AAA, gas prices haven’t been this low since 2004. With gas prices at a 12-year low that means more people will be behind the wheel, causing more traffic, possibly more accidents, and more wear and tear on roads and bridges.

Gas prices for Riverside County are averaging $2.66 a gallon.

CHP and other agencies are out in full force for the long weekend and will be setting up DUI checkpoints.
