Road rage suspect found hiding near Thermal palm grove

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is investigating what lead up to a stolen SUV crashing into a palm grove in Thermal.

According to deputies on scene, they got a call of some sort of road rage incident involving a gun just before 11:30 a.m. Friday in the area of 50th Avenue and Tyler Street. A deputy later spotted the suspect vehicle that was described, crashed into the palm grove near Vista Del Sur and Tyler Street.

As deputies investigated, it was discovered that the suspect’s vehicle, a 2013 GMC Arcadia, was stolen Thursday night from Bermuda Dunes.

The driver of that car was later found nearby, and is in custody. Pedro Sebastian Rodriguez, 40, of Coachella was booked on charges of vehicle theft, assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.
