Palm Desert burglary arrest
Sheriff’s deputies Thursday announced the arrest of a parolee accused of burglarizing a Palm Desert home in February and said they are trying to return a number of allegedly stolen items found in his apartment to the rightful owners.
Danny Velasquez, 24, of Palm Desert, is being held without bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, where he was booked Tuesday on suspicion of possession of stolen property, being a felon in possession of a firearm and violating parole.
Velasquez is accused of burglarizing a home in the 74300 block of Peppergrass Street on Feb. 13, said Deputy Armando Munoz.
He was arrested just after 4 p.m. Tuesday at his apartment in the 45200 block of Deep Canyon Road, where several items taken from the Peppergrass Street home were allegedly found, along with other items believed to have been stolen elsewhere, Munoz said.
The sheriff’s department disseminated a photograph of the items, which include a cell phone, cutlery, watches, necklaces and purses, and asked anyone who can identify them to contact Deputy Letterly of the Palm Desert Burglary Suppression Unit at (760) 836-1689.
