First Lady Michelle Obama visits desert this weekend?
News Channel 3/CBS Local 2 has confirmed a plane similar to one used on a previous visit by First Lady Michelle Obama was sitting on the tarmac Friday night at Palm Springs International Airport.
Palm Springs Police Lt. Melissa Desmarais said officers from the department assisted the United States Secret Service with a “detail” earlier Friday and referred any other requests for information to the White House Press Office.
Someone inside Thunderbird Heights in Rancho Mirage also confirmed that there was a secret service presence in the area of a home where the First Lady has stayed in the past. We also confirmed a large security presence at the gate to Thunderbird Heights.
Michelle Obama has visited the Coachella Valley several times since her husband took office, occasionally visiting her friend and interior decorator Michael Smith, who owns a home at Thunderbird Heights..
There is a planned dedication of a Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library in North Long Beach Saturday morning. Published reports have said the First Lady did not plan on attending.
The White House Press Office has not returned our requests for confirmation on whether the First Lady is here in the Coachella Valley.
