John White – KESQ News Channel 3 Anchor

John White anchors News Channel 3 weeknights at 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 11:00 PM on KESQ-TV.

John is one of the most experienced journalists in the desert. His first local reporting job was at KNWZ-AM in 1991. In 1995, John joined KESQ-TV. In 1997, he moved to WHP-TV in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In 2000, he returned to the desert and KESQ-TV.

John has interviewed Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Former President Gerald Ford, Former Governor Pete Wilson and countless other newsmakers. Some of the big stories he’s reported on include: The September 11 Attacks, The Valley’s Growth Boom, Indian Gaming Expansion, Problems at the Salton Sea, The 1992 Landers Earthquake, The Power Crisis and The O.J. Simpson Verdict.

The explosive growth in the desert has given John the opportunity to grow along with the community. He’s amazed at how the Valley has changed in the 19 years since he moved here.

A native of the Chicago area, John earned his bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. That’s where he met his wife. They married in 1993 after she brought John to California. They have one daughter and love the Palm Springs area and entire Coachella Valley.

John loves golfing here in the desert. He enjoyed the opportunity of a lifetime, playing in the Bob Hope Classic(Now the Humana Challange) in 2009 alongside rock musician Alice Cooper. In 2011, John played in the tournament as part of the ” Broadcaster’s Challenge.” His team won a $5,000 donation to The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission.

John is also a long suffering Cubs fan. He credits the team with teaching him to be an eternal optimist. “Wait ’til next year” is a way of life for John.
