Two I-10 wrecks slow traffic east of Coachella Valley

Traffic was slowed Thursday morning along Interstate-10 following two wrecks, both involving big rig semis.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a rolled over semi at 3:29 a.m. in the freeway’s eastbound lanes near the Cactus City Rest Stop.

The truck was off the road, but debris was scattered on the asphalt.

Only minor injuries were reported with the driver.

A passenger had to be freed from the truck, but was not injured.

One traffic lane remained open.

A second wreck occurred in the westbound lanes near Box Canyon and Chiriaco Summit at 3:56 a.m.

A Fex-Ex semi rolled over spilling paint thinner onto a traffic lane.

No injuries were reported.
