Lockdowns lifted at Indio schools

Two Indio schools were under lockdown as an abundance of caution due to a mentally disturbed person in the area on Wednesday morning, according to Sgt. Dan Marshall with the Indio Police Department.

DSUSD Public Information Officer Mary Perry confirmed that Amistad High School and Dwight Eisenhower Elementary School were the schools under lockdown and that there was Indio police officers and security in the area.

The lockdowns were lifted at about 9:30 a.m. after police determined there was no threat to students or staff.

Perry and Indio Police said there was no imminent threat to the students on those campuses and the lockdown was just a safety precaution.
