Student struck by car in Indio

Indio police confirm a student was struck by a car Friday morning before school in front of Lyndon B. Johnson Elementary School.

The collision was reported at 7:24 a.m. at Clinton Street and Palmyra Avenue.

Police Sgt. Dan Marshall said no major injuries were reported.

The student was knocked down by a car, but did not require any medical assistance.

The student was checked out and then continued on to class.

Marshall said the driver did stop and was cooperating with authorities.

There was no word on any possible citations.

The collision happened as students were headed to class at the nearby elementary school.

Traffic was not affected.
