DSUSD celebrates 50 years

Desert Sands Unified School District students came together for some fun and games at a free community day Sunday afternoon.

Students from more than a dozen DSUSD schools came together at the Coachella Valley History Museum in Indio. Events included Indio High School agricultural students showcasing some livestock, while Jefferson Middle students featured robotics endeavors and technology. The event celebrated the school district’s golden anniversary, 50 years. “I think it’s just such a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate with the community the past 50 years. So many of the community members here today are graduates of our schools. But then I look at these really wonderful faces and know that’s our future,” said DSUSD Public Information Officer, Marry Perry. Many also got to open a time capsule created in 1991, by students at James Madison Elementary.
